J-Arm M/Duty Universal 18-inch Mount
Model HBE-J-ARM-18″-MDOverview
Get your outdoor antenna or wireless equipment exactly where it needs to be with the HBE J-Arm. Designed for installations where a wall or roof doesn’t provide a suitable mounting point, the J-Arm extends your equipment beyond the building to provide a clearer line of sight and better positioning.
Its adjustable and reversible design makes installation flexible across flat walls, gable ends, and pitched roofs, while the sturdy round mounting pole supports compatible outdoor radios and antennas. Whether you’re setting up 5G equipment, Wi-Fi, or a wireless bridge, the HBE J-Arm gives you a secure, practical way to get your equipment above and away from the structure.

Key Specs
The HBE-J-ARM-18″-MD is a reversible J-pole bracket for carrying an antenna, a wireless bridge, a Wi-Fi extender, a small dish or a weather station on the outside of a building. It goes up on a wall or a roof with ordinary hand tools.
The arm stands 18.2 in (462 mm) with an overall depth of 8 in (203 mm), and the pivot carries 150° of travel, so the mast can be brought back to vertical on a pitched roof or angled out from under an eave. The mast tube is 1.62 in (41 mm) outside diameter over a 1.49 in (38 mm) bore, and the base plate is 4.72 in × 6.89 in (120 mm × 175 mm) with slots rather than plain holes, so the arm can be squared up before the bolts are pulled tight. It is steel with a rust-resistant white finish.
It is sold singly — one arm, with the clamps and wall fixings it needs.
Commonly Used Installation Locations
- Exterior Building Walls & Siding: Fastened directly through exterior cladding into the building frame/studs to clear gutters and maintain clear line-of-sight (LOS).
- Roof Fascia & Eaves: Attached to fascia boards or rafter tails. The 18-inch curve extends the equipment outward and upward past gutters and roof edges without penetrating roof shingles.
- Sloped or Flat Roofs: Installed directly on roof decking over rafters. The pivoting base compensates for pitch angles up to 45° to ensure the antenna mast remains plumb.
- Chimneys & Parapets: Anchored into masonry parapets on commercial flat roofs or strapped around brick structures to achieve height above rooftop obstructions.
- Towers, Poles, & Pipe Risers: Clamped onto tower leg sections, rooftop non-penetrating sled masts, or satellite standoffs to host secondary CPE hardware.
Installation Verification Checklist
- Substrate Target: Verify fasteners hit structural wood framing, solid masonry, or unistrut—never rely solely on vinyl siding, stucco, or OSB roof decking without underlying framing support.
- Mast Plumb Alignment: Loosen the pitch pivot bolts, level the upright mast tube vertically using a torpedo level, and torque locking bolts to 10–12 ft-lbs to prevent slippage during high wind loads.
- Waterproofing: Ensure each lag penetration through siding or roofing is sealed with butyl mastic tape or polyurethane roofing sealant beneath the baseplate.
- Grounding: Terminate a minimum #10 AWG solid copper ground wire to the baseplate grounding screw and bond it to the structure’s central intersystem bonding termination (IBT).
